I love the story of Esther and how she was willing to risk everything for her people. Esther was just a young girl, orphaned and being raised by her uncle, when she was taken away from all she knew and was chosen by the King to be Queen. It must have been a terrifying experience. When her uncle sends her a message telling her that all her people are about to be murdered and begs for her assistance, her courage is incredible. She asks him and all the Jews to pray and fast for her and then she risks her life and approaches the King without an invitation. The king accepts her and offers her whatever she wants, she doesn’t rush to make her request but quietly waits on God’s perfect timing before confidently and humbly making her request. Esther is rewarded for her incredible bravery and faith and her people are saved through her actions.

This is such a beautiful demonstration of what Jesus has done for us. Jesus not only risked his life but gave his life to save his people – you and me. He took our place – died the death we deserved – so that we can go free. This means that we can now approach the King of Kings and be called his children. We can freely make our requests to the King and enter his presence without fear. We can have a relationship with the living God, speak to him as our father and live in the knowledge that one day we’ll be with him in heaven forever and ever.
